D.M.I Intro
Since I was a little girl I wanted to be a writer. I had a special binder that I wrote and re-wrote the same, “chapters,” of my book over and over again. As I grew up that little girl was told that writing was not a real career. That it would be better as a hobby. I stifled my passion for years until I found it again in college. Now, as a semi-functional adult who developed another love for business, the journalist in me is documenting my journey to see if I make it. Dear Miss Independent is my personal and public, in-real-time-follow-along story to see if I accomplish my dream of owning my own business. I only have one year to sink or swim. Fingers crossed.
Edit: This intro was the seed of what my rags to riches story I thought I’d be able to continue, but it left me extremely uninspired. Instead of looking at it through a creative, journalistic scope, it felt more like a chore. As a result, I’ve opted to transform “Dear Miss Independent,” into an open platform to discuss my life, thoughts, progress, and hardships. Instead of keeping it strictly to business, it will encapsulate other parts of my life, since I’ve realized that other aspects of my life influence my business and journalism journey.
