Today, as I sat at work I saw a young father playing with his daughter and I immediately thought of you. I saw you, 10 years older with greying hair and the same young stretched smile as you reached for her. You laughed at her soft pitter-pattering feet and swooped her up like she was flying. She rolled with laughter as you kissed her on the cheek, and for the first time my heart broke, because in that futuristic moment I saw you beautiful and sweet, but that part of you that craved children was never meant for me. So that night, I enveloped myself in my blankets, and used my tears to paste the stamp and mailed myself back home, because while love conquers most, it doesn’t conquer all.
